The bicoastal defense team at the center of Karen Reads case is spearheaded by two heavy-hitting criminal defense attorneys.

Lawyers for Karen Read, the Massachusetts woman charged with murder in the 2022 death of her police officer husband, rested their case Tuesday after calling their final witness.

Retired forensic pathologist Dr. Frank Sheridan testified for the defense, challenging the prosecution's theory that Karen Read killed her husband, Matthew Rademacher, by stabbing him in the neck.

Sheridan said that the autopsy report was incomplete and that there was no evidence of a struggle or defensive wounds on Rademacher's body.

The jury is now deliberating. If convicted, Read faces life in prison.
